About Big Horn County, Montana
 


Mission Statement

The mission of Big Horn County is to maintain accessibility, accountability, efficiency and a sense of community, within the various functions of County government, while safeguarding the liberties of our citizens.

Big Horn County Courthouse

The Big Horn County Courthouse is located at 121 W. 3rd, in Hardin, Montana. The Commissioners and County Superintendent of Schools Offices are on the third floor. The Second floor houses the Clerk and Recorder's Office, which maintains vital statistics and deed filings; along with the Treasurer's Office, handling motor vehicle registrations, driver's licenses applications and fees, and taxes. Other offices on the second floor include the County Attorney, Justice of the Peace and District Court. The County Agent is located on the first floor at the Extension Service. The Sheriff's Office has a separate entrance, in the alleyway on the east side of the building. State agencies currently housed in the Courthouse include the Dept. of Revenue, Adult and Juvenile Probation.

Visitors may enjoy the Big Horn County Museum and Visitor Center at I-90 Exit 497 and the Big Horn County Library at 419 N. Custer, which provides free Internet wireless access. The Big Horn County Council on Aging, located at North 415 Center Avenue in downtown Hardin, provides service to Senior Citizens. The Big Horn County Public Health Dept. is located at 809 North Custer. The Big Horn County Road Dept./Rural Fire Dept. is located at 15 East 8th Street, along with the Disaster and Emergency Services headquarters.
